Love Yourself, Actually
I have started intentionally shifting my conversations in my therapy office about self care to self love. And asking how are you making time to create self love. To intentionally encourage my clients to think about how they love themselves, how they talk to themselves, and how they view themselves in their world.
The Unwanted Present
The hardness of “why did this happen” brings many folks to therapy. Why is what makes it painful to understand hard truths, conflicting experiences, the why is hard. There is nothing sweet about why.
Not on My Menu
My efforts to please people have often gotten the my way of letting myself authentically experience and communicate. I struggled with honest reactions and prioritized pleasing others. Somewhere in 2022, I stopped chasing pleasing others and just focused on pleasing myself.
The Expert in the Room
Each person has developed narratives about their abilities to manage life transitions. Therapy can help assist with fine tuning and trusting you inner voice and instincts to be the expert in your own life.
When you need Professional Help
The struggle of letting others help me and my struggle in giving up total control led to a disastrous dog grooming stint but demonstrated the need to admit when I needed help.
